Biography

Dr Ahmed Saeed Yahya qualified with his medical degree from Bart’s and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2011. During his early career he worked in emergency medicine, surgery and general medicine in South London. He pursued his core psychiatry training in North Central London gaining membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists in January 2017. He later completed his specialist training in General Adult Psychiatry at the Bart’s and the London Higher Training Programme.

Dr Yahya was employed as a full time NHS consultant in female psychiatric intensive care at the Maudsley Hospital. He later moved to the Priory Hospital North London as a staff consultant where he now works in a visiting capacity. He was further granted practising privileges at the Priory Hospital Roehampton.

Dr Yahya is a highly experienced and distinguished consultant psychiatrist. He has worked across a range of psychiatric sub-specialities. He has been commended for his clinical work and is particularly skilled in managing complex conditions. Dr Yahya has the RCPsych competencies to lead an ECT department and is also certified in rTMS. Furthermore, Dr Yahya is a specialist in the diagnosis and management of Autism and ADHD.

Dr Yahya supervises the training and development of junior doctors and medical students alongside his clinical role.

Dr Yahya’s research interests have mainly been in new and emerging treatments associated with psychiatric disorders, as well as issues associated with neuropsychiatry, complex trauma, depression, personality disorder, childhood autism, eating disorders, perinatal psychiatry, brain stimulation therapies and occupational psychiatry.

Dr Yahya has published 30 peer reviewed scientific articles to date. In addition, he has presented poster presentations internationally and has contributed articles to multiple editions of the Royal College (RCPsych) newsletter. Dr Yahya regularly peer reviews academic papers for high impact factor journals. He has supported the prestigious Nature research group in reviewing articles being considered for publication. Outside of work, Dr Yahya spends his spare time exercising, travelling and enjoys fine dining.
